The 2010 Rosé comes from the Suacci Vineyard, Marshall Ranch & Herbert Vineyards. On the nose there are hints of wet stones, strawberry, peach and watermelon. This elegant, crispy wine has a pretty salmon color, with a long, chalky, richly spiced finish. As with many Rosés, the wine is very versatile at the dinner table. Pair this wine with a green salad with shaved parmesan, oysters on the half shell, or match it with something more intense like a marinated and grilled beef dish.
2010 was probably the longest and coolest growing season in many years. It seemed like an eternity waiting for flowering and fruit set to finish. Flowering took over a month in some of our vineyards, which is about twice as long as normal. As summer started to wind down, we were waiting for veraison to finish, and it finally did in late August. It too, was a long process. We were finally rewarded with complex fruit that had balanced flavor at low brix.
